Mauro Porro



Mauro Porro is a 28 years old harlem stride piano player and arranger from Milan who’s having a principal leading role in the Italian Hot and Classic Jazz field.

He also play tenor/soprano/alto/c-melody/bass sax, clarinet, trumpet, cornet and percussions specializing in all vintage jazz and swing styles.

He has regularly performed from the age of 17 with the "Milano Jazz Gang" (, one of the most famous italian classic jazz orchestra later joined by the german trumpet player Herbert Christ.

The great Rossano Sportiello and Paolo Alderighi have at some point or another filled the piano chair until he joined the group in this position.

In 2005 he was a member of the Melodians, the international Hot Jazz Orchestra lead by the dutch trombone player Jack Van Elewout, playing in the Breda J.F. every year.

In 2009 partecipated as an actor and historical consultant (having provided antique instruments for it) to the Italian RAI movie production “Le Ragazze dello Swing”, dedicated to the memory of the “Trio Lescano”, a very famous Italian jazz female vocal trio during the 1930’s and 1940’s .

p4.jpgIn 2011 he appeared as a guest in the Mike Durham’s “Classic Jazz Party”, held in England and raising 36 of all the top international musicians specialized in authentic Hot Jazz music.

Mauro Porro runs some projects from hot jazz to swing to be-bop and collaborates with the bands: Chicago Stompers, Milano Hot Jazz Orchestra, Milano Rhythm Kings, Milano Swingtet and many many others.

He appeared at various European jazz festivals in: Italy, England, France, Germany, Holland, Hungary, Portugal, Spain and Switzerland.

Mauro Porro is a collector of 78rpm jazz records, music sheets and instruments from days gone by; his greatest pleasure comes from writing arrangements and transcriptions of records from the 1920's and '30's; he’s an arranger for an italian recording company and some various jazz combos in both Italy and Europe. Lately arranged even for Vince Giordano’s Nighthawks.
